Harrisburg woman facing charges

Published June 10. 2011 05:00PM

State police at Frackville have charged a woman from Harrisburg with tampering with records, forgery and driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for several traffic violations May 15.

Jessica Demark-Hastings, 27, was stopped by troopers on Interstate 81, Ryan Township, Schuylkill County. Upon investigation, it was discovered that her license was suspended for a drunk driving offense.

Demark-Hastings told troopers she had a letter from PennDOT approving her for a hardship license and would bring it to the Frackville station.

Demark-Hastings provided the investigating trooper with a bogus letter, attached with the state seal and PennDOT logo.

A call to PennDOT verified that the letter was not valid.
