Burglars caught in act, but escape

Burglars were caught in the act by a property owner but managed to escape. State police at Frackville said the incident occurred at an old unoccupied three story residence at 27 Church St., in Lost Creek, West Mahanoy Township, just outside Shenandoah. The incident occurred about 11 p.m. on Monday, May 23.

According to troopers the criminals gained entry to the structure by throwing a brick threw a side sliding door. Once inside it appeared they were searching for copper wiring. While in the home the owners of the property, identified as Hermilo and Christine Ramirez, of Lost Creek, arrived and entered the structure and approached the intruders.

The criminals fled the struck by jumping through a window in the rear. The victims chased the intruders but they managed to escape.
