Crashes reported on Schuylkill roads
Several crashes were investigated on Schuylkill County roadways over the past weekend by state police at Schuylkill Haven.
Troopers said a two vehicle crash occurred about 11:30 a.m. on June 2 along SR901 at the intersection with Maple Avenue, in Branch Township. Troopers said Willis N. Grieser, 20, of Pottsville, was attempting a left turn onto Maple and then stopped waiting for traffic to clear. Grieser then began to turn as the light change from green to ambler and his 2003 Toyota Corolla was struck on the passenger side by a 2006 Dodge Neon driven by Matthew T. Hunt, 18, of Pottsville.
No one was injured in the crash. Grieser was cited for vehicle turning left.
A one vehicle crash occurred about 11:13 a.m. on Friday, June 3, along Deturksville Road (SR443), in Washington Township. Troopers said Gary L. Maccready, 56, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. The front bumper of the vehicle struck the deer. Maccready was not injured.
A one vehicle crash was reported about 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, along Blue Mountain Road, at the entrance to Hawk Mountain Reservation, in Wayne Township. Troopers said Richard L. Garcia, 20, of Port Wentworth, Ga., was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme westbound when he lost control while rounding a curve. The car traveled about 70 feet across the oncoming lane before leaving the road and striking a ditch with the undercarriage.
The car then traveled another 40 feet before striking a tree on the driver's side rear.
Garcia was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Garcia for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Another one vehicle crash was reported about 3:09 p.m. on Saturday along SR895, near Manor Rd., in Wayne Township. Troopers said Joe A. Chrin, 44, of Auburn, was driving a 2009 Dodge Charger westbound and failed to negotiate a sharp left curve in the road. The car went onto the berm and collided with a utility pole causing disabling damage to the vehicle and breaking the pole.
Chrin was not injured. Troopers cited Chrin for driving at an (un) safe speed and not wearing a seat belt.
A two vehicle crash occurred about 2:52 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, along Tremont Road in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Timothy A. Savidge Jr., 18, of Pine Grove, was operating a 2010 Ford F350 truck and attempting to make a left hand turn into the parking lot of 187 Tremont Road. He turned in front of a 2002 Buick Century operated by Michelle Y. Miller, 41, of Sinking Spring, Berks County, who was southbound. The front of the Buick hit the passenger side of the Ford, troopers said. After impact the Ford overturned onto the driver's side and the rear struck a utility along the berm.
Miller had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel and was then taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of a neck injury.
Savidge, who was not injured, was cited for vehicle turning left, troopers added.
