Season starts in OT
The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) tipped off its annual summer basketball league on Wednesday, June 8 at the North and Middle Ward Playground in Tamaqua.
The athletes definitely had their stamina tested, seeing as it was one of the hottest days of the week. However, the heat did not bother Cuz-N-Joe's Place as they grabbed an exciting overtimevictory against Big Dippers.
Guerilla Squad also had a win against Kupres Twins Photography, while B & R Gym showed no mercywith abig win over Lucky's Deli.
WEDNESDAY RESULTS
Big Dippers-Cuz-N-Joe's Place
Cuz-N-Joe's Place came to play, rallying together for a 61-58 overtime victory against Big Dippers.
Ethan Eichorst was all over the court, scoring a game-high 30 points for Cuz-N-Joe's. Soko Mujovic also buriedfive three pointers and scored 19 points to aid in the overtime win.
For Big Dippers, Mark Scarcella scored 16 points in the loss.
Guerilla Squad- Kupres Twins
Guerilla Squad maintained the lead for theentire game, en route to a50-43 victory over Kupres Twins Photography.
Dave Wilson was Guerilla Squad's main man scoring 15 points and hittingnine out of his 11 free throw attempts. Derrick McFarland also had 10 points to aid in the victory.
Joe Tamagini fought hard, scoring 20 points and makingthreetreys to lead Kupres Twins Photography.
Lucky's Deli- B & R Gym
It was a good day for B & R Gym as they showed how to work the ball around all game. They made it look easy having the biggest score of the day with a 71-47 victory over Lucky's Deli.
Ryan Nenstiel proved he could shoot, hittingsix three-pointers and finishing the game with 18 points. Tom Zulkowski had 13 points, while Tony Gomez and Warren Teasley alsoposted double-figures.
Nick Reese scored 11 points to pace Lucky's Deli.
