Driver cited after Schuylkill crash

The driver involved in a one-vehicle crash in Schuylkill County was cited. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 8:48 p.m. on Friday, June 10, along Greenbriar Road, in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Samantha L. Ellex, 18, of Pottsville, was driving a 1996 Subaru Legacy eastbound on Calvary St. then went east on Greenbriar. She then attempted to negotiate a left curve but was traveling too fast. She lost control of the vehicle and it traveled across the westbound lane and onto the north berm where the vehicle collided with a tree.

A 16-year-old female juvenile from Pottsville was slightly injured and transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment. Ellex and two other passengers, a female age 16 and a male age one in a safety seat, were not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Ellex for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
