Homeless man arrested in Monroe
A homeless man was arrested and jailed in Monroe County following incidents at a medical health facility. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident began about 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, at the Geisinger Health Center, at 21 Commerce Court, Mt. Pocono.
According to police they were called to the center for a report of a male harassing others and being violent. The male left the center prior to the arrival of police. Police were able to locate the male a short time later at the Walmart store.
The male was identified as Joel Mattison, 57, listed as a homeless person. An investigation revealed that Mattison began talking to people and following them around inside the Geisinger facility. He then began to talk to a four-year-old child while the the child's mother was checking out.
Employees at Geisinger, as well as the mother of the child, confronted Mattison. He began to yell and scream at them before leaving.
Mattison was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment. He was then lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
