LV in Carpenter Cup final

Lehigh Valley picked up a 9-6 win over Tri-Cape at Citizen's Bank Park on Monday to advance to today's Carpenter Cup finals.

The Ted Plessl-coached squad faced Burlington County this morning in search of its third Carpenter Cup title.

Lehigh Valley had three errors and just seven hits over nine innings, but Tri-Cape, made up of players from southern New Jersey, left 14 runners on base and had six errors.

Pocono Mountain East's Evan Fardella had a three-run double in the second inning and Justin Pacchioli of Nazareth had an RBI double in the sixth for LV.

Lehighton's Tyler Hill had a single, two runs and an RBI, while Palmerton's Christian Marcin also had a single.

Southern-Tamaqua

Southern Area, tied for the Northern Division lead with Pottsville, used some big bats, to take a 12-6 victory over Tamaqua.

Ike Polinsky had a homer and three RBI, Mark Harding had four hits and Phil Dohner had two hits, scored four runs and had two RBI.

Tamaqua got homers from Mike Streisel and Jordan Heisler. Streisel had two RBI and Heisler was 3-for-4 with three RBI.
