Monroe man facing charges

A Monroe County man is facing charges following an incident that occurred on Monday, June 13, along Summit Avenue, in Pocono Summit.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched to the railroad crossing at the above-stated location about 5:22 p.m. to a report of a suspicious tow truck parked on the railroad bed.

On scene police observed a white Chevrolet roll back tow truck operated by Martin O'Brien, 54, of Long Pond. A further investigation revealed that O'Brien was allegedly attempting to remove pieces of rail from the railroad bed by utilizing the tow trucks winch.

The rails were going to be taken to a scrap yard and sold for cash. O'Brien was placed under arrest and charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and railroad protection and interference with transportation facilities.
