Lehigh Valley falls in Carpenter Cup softball

Lehigh Valley was eliminated in the loser's bracket final of the Carpenter Cup softball tournament on Thursday.

Mercer County, New Jersey beat Lehigh Valley, 6-1. Both of LV's losses in the double-elimination tourney came at the hands of Mercer County. Lehigh Valley had a 4-2 tournament record and finished in third place.

Thursday's game was tied 1-1 when Mercer erupted for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the win.

Northern Lehigh's Megan Filchner and Palmerton's Martinia Herring were both members of the Lehigh Valley squad.
