Jim Thorpe arrests
Jim Thorpe police reported on two arrests made by officers recently.
Police said on Friday, June 3, about 7:37 p.m. they were notified by John Huber, of Germansville, that Arthur Guth III, 44, of 21 Oak Ridge Rd., Jim Thorpe, had threatened him and James G. Hydro, of Summit Hill, with an aluminum baseball bat while standing on Hydro's property, located in the North Leisureland area of the borough. On the same date, about 9:15 p.m., Hydro also came to the police station and reported the incident.
Police questioned Guth, who admitted drinking a half bottle of vodka and finding deer antlers in his smokehouse. Police said Guth told them he believed Hydro had placed them there and he went looking for Hydro to "settle the score once and for all."
Police cited Guth for harassment.
On Saturday, June 11, about 8:48 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated male standing on top of a train car near the borough train station.
Upon arrival officers found Robert Sargent, 40, of A45 Broadview Drive, Jim Thorpe, who had sustained injuries to his head and hand. He was "manifestly" under the influence of alcohol, police said, and uncooperative with them.
He was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of his injuries. Police said he was issued citations for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
