A Lehighton driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Jim Thorpe.

Borough police said Marie L. Henning, 24, of 767 Upper Nis Hollow Drive, was stopped about 2:11 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, operating a 2001 Kia Sephia sedan along Susquehanna St. (SR209). She was stopped for an equipment violation, police said.

At the stop Henning showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. She was then transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The test results revealed she had a .28BAC.

Police said charges of DUI and motor vehicle code violation of general lighting requirements were filed against Henning.
