State police at Lehighton reported on two, one-vehicle crashes investigated by troopers, both occurring on Saturday, June 25, and both in Carbon County.

The first occurred about 2:30 a.m. along Blakeslee Boulevard (SR443), near Gilberts Hill Road, in Mahoning Township. Troopers said Charann M Ahner, 27, of Lehighton, was operating a 1996 Plymouth Neon westbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the animal and struck it with the front passenger side of her Neon.

Ahner was not injured.

The second crash occurred about 9 p.m. along West Stagecoach Road, near Hazlewood Road, in Towamensing Township. Troopers said Sheryl Merkel, 51, of Palmerton, was driving a 1969 Corvette Stingray when the vehicle left the road and struck some trees along the berm. Merkel and her 16-year-old passenger, also from Palmerton, were not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene, troopers said.
