Graduated from Coast Guard basic training

SN Timothy Midas graduated from the United States Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N.J. April 15. SN Midas was a member of Sierra 184's Color Guard and had the honor of carrying the American Flag at graduation.

During the eight-week training program, Midas completed a vigorous training curriculum consisting of academics and practical instruction on water safety and survival, military customs and courtesies, seamanship skills, physical fitness, health and wellness, first aid, fire fighting and marksmanship.

Midas and other recruits also received instruction on the Coast Guard's core valueshonor, respect and devotion to duty.

Midas will join 36,000 other men and women who comprise the Coast Guard's workforce.

SN Midas is currently stationed on the United States Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma whose home port is in Portsmouth, N.H.

Midas graduated from Penn State University in 2010 with a B.S. in Crime, Law and Justice and is a 2005 graduate of Marian High School.

SN Midas is the son of Cecilia Enama and Tim Midas and grandson of Aggie Enama and Mame Kershner, all of Lansford.
