Lehighton Middle School band concert slated

The Lehighton Area Middle School music department will present a Summer Band concert on Friday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the middle school.

The sixth through eighth grade combined band will perform several pieces including "Sugar Creek Saga," "Bugs That Bug Me," and the theme from the cartoon Spongebob Squarepants. Furthermore, selected clarinet, saxophone, flute, and low brass students will be featured during the small ensemble portion of the concert.

The highlight of the morning will be the first performance of the beginner band. This group of students will perform in public for the first time.

The beginners will demonstrate what they have learned so far in their brief musical careers. Dr. Mark McGalla, Lehighton Area Middle School principal, will narrate this portion of the program.

The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will be held following the concert to celebrate the accomplishments of the Summer Band participants.
