Summit Hill
Scripture sharing
The weekly scripture sharing program at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will continue this week.
Participants will meet on Thursday, June 30, at 7 p.m. in the parish rectory.
St. Paul Lutheran
The Rev. John W. Tomlinson, a retired pastor from Allentown, will be the guest preacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, July 3.
The service will begin at 9:30 a.m., which is a new starting time for the services which will be held in July and August.
There will be a brief congregational meeting following worship on Sunday to discuss painting the church. All members are encouraged to attend.
Methodist Charge
The service schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, July 3, is as follows:
Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services.
Historical society
The Summit Hill Historical Society will hold its annual summer picnic on Wednesday, July 20.

SHCIO news
Due to the Fourth of July holiday, there will be no monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization in July.
Meetings are normally held at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.
Maxine Vermillion is SHCIO's new president, having been elected recently to succeed Debra Ranck.
Lansford
VBS planned
Registration for the 2011 St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church Vacation Bible School will be held after the weekend masses on July 2-3.
The VBS will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Jule 25-29. Its theme will be "Discovery Canyon."
Both adult and teenage volunteers are needed to help in various areas such as music, games, drama and crafts.
St. John's
On Wednesdays at 7 p.m. St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, holds an informal worship: a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion.
All are welcome to this relaxed, brief musical evening prayer.
For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and children's program at 6:30 p.m.

Nesquehoning
Free dinner
The free community dinner at the Meed's United Methodist Church, W. Catawissa Street, Nesquehoning, will take place on Wednesday, June 29 from 5-7 p.m. All are invited to attend.
