Jubilarian sisters

Five area nuns who are members of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters (OSF), all of whom were born in Lansford, recently celebrated milestone anniversaries in the order.

The women were among 16 sisters honored at a Jubliee Mass and dinner reception at Alvernia College, Reading, in May 29.

They include:

Sister Aileen Bomba, who celebrated the 75th anniversary of her reception into the order.

Born Helen Bomba, she is a daughter of the late Joseph and Stephanie (Krutsick) Bomba.

She entered the order on June 20, 1936, and professed her final vows on Aug. 11, 1942.

A retired teacher, she is a resident at St. Joseph Villa, Reading.

Sister Arnoldine Marszalek, who also celebrated her 75th anniversary in the order.

Born Anna Marszalek, she is a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie (Borkowska) Marszalek.

She attended the former St. Stanislaus School, Summit Hill.

She entered the order on June 20, 1936, and professed her final vows on Aug. 12, 1942.

A retired teacher, she is a resident at St. Joseph Villa, Reading.

Sister Lambertine Ogorzalek celebrated her 75th anniversary in the order as well.

Born Mary Sophie Ogorzalek, she is a daughter of the late Francis and Regina (Skorbek) Ogorzalek.

She entered the order on June 20, 1936, and professed her final vows Aug. 10, 1943.

A retired registered nurse and nurse anesthetist, she is a resident at St. Joseph Villa, Reading.

Sister Ann Therese Poremba celebrated her 65th anniversary in the OSF.

Born Ann Therese Poremba, she is a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Rose (Mikulska) Poremba.

She entered the order on Aug. 11, 1946, and professed her final vows on Aug. 12, 1952.

A retired teacher, she is a resident at St. Joseph Villa, Reading.

Sister Florence Kruczek also celebrated her 65th anniversary in the order.

Born Florence Aurelia Kruczek, she is a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Mary (Gurka) Kruczek.

A former teacher, she is the current assistant to the vice president for mission and ministry at Alvernia College, Reading and resides at the Sacred Heart Convent in that city.
