Sweeney named grid captain at Johns Hopkins

Kale Sweeney, son of Jack Sweeney (formerly of Coaldale) and Cathy (Wehr) Sweeney (formerly of Summit Hill), was named as one of Johns Hopkins University's senior captains for football this upcoming season. Sweeney plays linebacker at and has started all three years and is a Cosida Academic All-American in football.

Kale played at Parkland when the Trojans were runner-up for the 4A State title in 2007. He was a running back in high school, but was switched to defense at Johns Hopkins. He did get carries last year at tailback scoring a touchdown against Franklin & Marshall in a win. The Blue Jays were 8-3 last year and shared the Centennial Conference crown.
