Published March 03. 2011 05:00PM

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, along SR901, a tenth of a mile south of Cressona Road, in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jo Ann Strausser-Laubenstine, 39, of Cressona, was operating a 2004 Saturn westbound when she said she swerved to avoid a deer. The vehicle left the road and struck a embankment and then traveled about 90 feet along the embankment before returning to the road.

The vehicle then traveled about 275-feet westward before coming to rest in the westbound lane. Damages were termed heavy to the vehicle.

Laubenstine was not injured. Troopers said she was placed under arrest for suspected DUI. She submitted to a blood test with the DUI charge pending the test results.
