Tamaqua man cited for drunkenness
A Tamaqua man has been cited after causing a commotion at a relative's home on Feb. 23.
Borough police received a call from Debra Wood, who was at 326 Hazle St., at 10:35 p.m. The call concerned Wood's son, John L. Smith, 21, who had come to the home in a highly intoxicated state. He allegedly refused repeated orders to leave.
Officers arrived and advised the young man to leave. Smith refused and became arguementative. He was taken into custody and lodged in a holding cell for several hours. He was later released into the custody of an aunt.
Smith was cited for public drunkenness.
