Tamaqua man jailed for trespass

Tamaqua police have arrested a man for allegedly breaking into his aunt's home while she was away for the weekend.

Police were dispatched to 326 Hazle St., at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, for a reported break in.

On scene they spoke with Renee Tuttle, who was keeping an eye on the place for a friend, Danielle Sharer.

She had just arrived at the home and found the front door had been kicked in. She heard a voice inside and recognized the intruder as Lucas Ronald Tyler Smith, 19, last known address of 110 Market St., Tamaqua. Smith fled out the back door but was taken into custody on Greenwood Street within minutes.

Smith told officers he had been kicked out of his mother's home and was staying with friends, using Sharer's place for the occasional shower and change of clothes.

Sharer was contacted and told officers Smith was not allowed to use her place when she wasn't home.

Smith was cited for criminal trespass, defiant trespass and criminal mischief. He was arraigned before duty District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, who set bail at $25,000.

Unable to post the required 10 percent, Smith was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
