Theft count leads to drug charges
A Schuylkill County man initially arrested for retail theft is also facing drug charges. It was one of two retail theft incidents probed by state police at Schuylkill Haven.
Troopers said on Wednesday, March 2, about 4 p.m. Anthony Joseph Mark Jr., 26, of Pottsville, was in Boscov's Department store in the Fairlane Village Mall, Norwegian Township, where he was observed by store security removing price tags from two pair of sunglasses and then placing them into the front pocket of the hooded sweatshirt he was wearing and leaving the store without paying for them.
He was stopped outside by security who turned him over to troopers. During a routine search troopers found a metal tube containing marijuana on Mark as he emptied his pockets.
Troopers charged him with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and the retail theft count.
Troopers probed retail theft incident at the Cressona Mall in North Manheim Township. Troopers said a white male and white female were observed walking out of Ollie's Bargain Outlet store with three televisions about 5:33 p.m. on Feb. 26 without paying for them. The same two were observed about 6:43 p.m. walking out of the store with two more TV's also not paying for them.
Troopers are looking for a patron of the store who observed the theft or anyone else with information concerning the incident to call them at (570) 593-2000.
