Two cited in Tamaqua after 'scooter' incident
Riding a motorized scooter on the streets of Tamaqua proved to be unhealthy for two men on Saturday morning.
Police were on patrol at 1:45 a.m. monitoring traffic at the Five Points Intersection when thee observed two men traveling on a motorized Jazzy scooter. One male was seated while the other was standing on the back of the unit. The operator drove north on Center Street then entered Mauch Chunk Street in the travel lane.
The officer stopped the duo and identified the driver as Daniel David Miller, 35, of 214 Pine St., Tamaqua. The passenger was identified as Christopher Michael Cataldi, 22, also of 214 Pine St.
A records check indicated Cataldi was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear for a scheduled hearing before Schuylkill County Judge Jacqueline Russell. He was taken in to custody then transported to the county prison in Pottsville.
The scooter was impounded and Miller will be receiving a citation by mail.
