Vehicle stop leads to charges
A vehicle stop in front of the Pocono Mountain Regional police station along SR940, in Pocono Summit, has led to charges against the driver and passenger.
Police said officers made the stop about 2:53 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Matthew Kaschak, 19, of Drums, and passenger Steven Scatton, 19, of West Hazleton.
It was determined both had been consuming alcohol. Kaschak was given and failed field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.
The DUI charge is pending the test results. Both individuals were charged with underage drinking, police said.
