Ice/snow on road cause of crash

Ice and snow on a Carbon County roadway was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7, along Hemlock St., near Spring Rd., in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton said Richard D. Bierman, 35, of Blakeslee, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Accent southbound and traveled over ice and snow which caused him to lose control. The vehicle struck an embankment with the front end, then rolled over onto its roof and came to rest facing northwest.

Bierman was not injured, troopers said.
