Published March 15. 2011 05:00PM

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on three crashes investigated by troopers, including a hit and run, on Schuylkill County roadways.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 12:31 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, along Adamsdale Road, near Memorial Drive, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Steven A. Markowitz, 57, of Allentown, was driving a 2011 BMW R1200RT motorcycle westbound and failed to negotiate a sharp right curve. Markowitz lost control of the bike and it laid on its side. The bike slid about 50 feet across both lanes before coming to rest off the south side on the dirt shoulder.

Markowitz was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Troopers said he was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

A two vehicle crash occurred about 9:56 a.m. on Friday, March 11, at the intersection of SR901 and Maple St., in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Tina M. Morgan, 50, of Pine Grove, was westbound on 901 in a 2007 Mazda 6 while Betty A. Schneck, 72, of Pine Grove, was southbound on Maple. Troopers said Morgan became distracted due to using a cell phone and her vehicle went onto the berm and through a red light at the intersection.

The Mazda then struck Schneck's 2007 Dodge Caravan while she was attempting a left turn onto 901.

No one was injured, troopers said. Morgan was cited for the red light violation, troopers added.

The hit and run occurred on March 7 about 6:15 a.m. Troopers said a vehicle was driven westbound on Mill Creek Avenue in Norwegian Township when the driver lost control on the ice and snow-covered road. The vehicle struck a parked 2010 Chevrolet Aveo on the side of the road. After impact the driver fled the scene.

The hit and run vehicle is believed to be a gold or brown in color Jeep Wrangler with damage to the right side.
