Tamaqua woman facing charges

A Tamaqua woman is facing charges after allegedly creating a disturbance early Saturday morning.

Tamaqua Police were dispatched to 29 E. Elm St. at 1:18 a.m. where they were met by Mychal Beltrami. She told officers that Jennifer Dipietro, 27, of 230 Green St., Tamaqua, had been pounding on her door, attempting to enter Beltrami's apartment. Dipietro smashed the glass in the door, then left when the victim picked up the phone to call police.

Dipietro was found a short distance away and appeared to be in a highly intoxicated state. When questioned, she told officers she went to Beltrami's apartment because she suspected the other woman had stolen $40 from her. The money was allegedly taken off the bar at the Tiki Bar, sometime around 12:45 a.m. that date. She admitted going to the apartment, banging on the door and smashing the glass panel.

Dipietro was taken into custody and later released. She faces charges of criminal mischief and public drunkenness.
