Vavra finishes fifth at NCAA championships
Indiana University junior Allysa Vavra earned a fifth place finish in the 400 individual medley at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas this weekend.
Vavra, a Panther Valley High School graduate, posted a time of 4:04.30 in the 400 IM to break her own school and Big Ten record.
Vavra took second in her prelim heat with a time of 4:05.08. That is the third-fastest time in school history, giving Vavra four of the five fastest IU times on record.
Vavra also placed 11th in the 200 breastroke with a time of 2:09.7.
University of Georgia junior Kristen Shickora finished 14th in the 100 backstroke with a time 52.78. Shickora is a Marian High School graduate.
