Two Pleasant Valley grads honored by PSAC
East Stroudsburg University's Jake Griesemer and Jeremy Gigliotti helped the Warriors to a 4-1 week and were named PSAC East Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
Griesemer hit .571 (8-for-14) with five runs scored and four RBI in five games for ESU, which took three out of four games from Kutztown and improved to 16-4 on the season.
A Pleasant Valley graduate, Griesemer earned the East Player of the Week honor for the second time in four weeks. He reached base at a .632 clip, had an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.203 and stole four bases in five attempts.
Griesemer had his most impressive performance in a non-conference win over USP. In that game, he went 1-for-1, walked three times, stole four bases and scoed four runs.
Gigliotti, also a Pleasant Valley graduate, earned the PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honor for the second straight week, sharing the award this time with Shippensburg's Ted Williams. Gigliotti tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout in East Stroudsburg's series-opening 1-0 win over Kutztown on Friday. Gigliotti struck out nine, walked three and only allowed one runner to get past second base.
Gigliotti, who has not allowed a run in 19 innings this season, struck out three of the last four batters he faced, including the last two in a 1-2-3 seventh inning. His WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) for the week was 0.86 and he held Kutztown to a .125 batting average.
