Regular season winding down
With two weeks remaining in the regular season of the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) winter basketball league, the playoff picture is beginning to take shape.
Sokol Club-Matika's Lawn Care/Blazosky Funeral Home
Despite Sokol Club jumping out to a 19-5 lead and a 30-21 halftime advantage, Matika's Lawn Care/Blazosky Funeral Home rallied for a 65-59 overtime victory.
With the game tied at 56 at the end of regulation, Chris Rodrigues scored five of his team's nine points in the extra session.
Peter Balogach led Matika's Lawn Care/Blazosky Funeral Home with 16 points and four three-pointers, while Brad Yuricheck tacked on 15.
For Sokol Club, Brad Hurley led the way with a game-high 30 points, including four treys.
Joe's Place- Midas Touch Hair Salon
In a low-scoring affair, Joe's Place kept its playoff hopes alive with a 40-30 victory over Midas Touch Hair Salon.
Tom Kresge (13 points) and Zach Tofany (12 points) paced Joe's Place.
Mike Conley's nine points led Midas Touch Hair Salon in the loss.
Ryan's Oil & Heating-Cuz-N-Joe's Place
Ryan's Oil & Heating received a forfeit victory over Cuz-N-Joe's Place.
R.R. Frey Services-Gear Graphic & Sign
R.R. Frey Services kept its undefeated season intact with a convincing 86-48 victory over a short-handed Gear Graphic & Design.
R.R. Frey Services was led by the "Frey Guys." Jeremy Frey scored 25 points, while his father Randy Frey netted 23 points, 19 of which came in the second half. Jim Barron and Ryan Achenbach added 12 and 11 points respectively.
Damien Saurazas led Gear Graphi & Sign with 18 points, while Bob Kreiser netted 16 points with four three-pointers.
