Revoke probation
Donald Watson, 23, Market St., Tamaqua, had his probation revoked by Judge John E. .Domalakes and was re-sentenced on a charge cashing a bad check in excess of $500 to serve nine to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 69 days in prison. On a charge of a second cashing of a bad check in excess of $500 was given a concurrent sentence of seven to 23 months in prison. He was told the court would consider early parole if he was accepted into inpatient drug rehabilitation.
On the first bad check he was cited by Tamaqua Police Chief David Mattson, in November 2005 and on the second check by security personel at Lowe's Store in East Norwegian Township. He had pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2007 and was sentenced to serve one to three years in prison and had been out on probation when he violated terms set by the court.
Summary appeals
David G.Frederick II, 16, of 51 Chian Circle, New Ringgold, won his appeal from a summary conviction of unlawfully killing a bear last November in the vicinity of his home, when Judge John E. Domalakes, after a hearing, adjudged him not guilty. Frederick had appealed from a decision by a district justice who had fined him $1,000 plus costs.
Harold B. Ronk III, 49, of Mahanoy City, lost his appeal from charges of taking possession of game and unlawfully killling two whitetail deer. Judge Domalakes ordered the fine imposed by a district justice of $600 plus $158 costs stand.
Kevin Cooney, 26, Shenandoah, withdrew his appeal and entered a guilty plea to a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended-DUI related, and was sentenced to serve 60 to 120 days effective April 22 at 4 p.m. and pay a fine of $500 plus $91.50 in costs.
Brad Elliot Scheeler, 34, Shenandoah, was adjudged guilty of driving while his operating privileges were suspended-DUI related, and he was sentenced to serve 60 to 120 days in the county prison and pay a fine of $500 and coss.
Granted divorce
Mark A. Aungst, Pine Grove, was granted a divorce from Kelli K. Aungst, Indiana, Pa. They were married Sept. 10, 2005.
Jillian Haughney was granted a divorce from James P. Haughney Jr., both of Mahanoy City. They were married Oct. 4, 2008.
Reduce market value
After a hearing Judge Domalakes reduced the market value of a property in Branch Township.
Harold J. and Laurie M. Marks appealed the findings of the Schuylkill County Assessment Appeals Board, which on a petition filed by the Minersville Area School District, placed the assessed value at $75,480. The court reduced the market value to $127,000 and placed the assessment at $52,83.
Found guilty
Paul Jeffrey Vernitsky, 42, Shenandoah, was found guilty by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin of driving while under the influence (DUI) of alcohol but not guilty of careless driving. Sentence was deferred to May 2 to allow the adult probation department prepare a presentence investigative report to guide the judge on the sentencing.
Vernitsky was stopped by Frackville Patrolman George last May 25 on Lehigh Avenue.
