Lehighton picked up a baseball win and Panther Valley posted its first softball victory of the season to highlight the weekend's scholastic sports action.

Lehighton-Palmerton

Parker David scattered seven hits to lead Lehighton to a 9-1 non-league win over Palmerton in a game played Saturday at PNC Field in Moosic.

The Indians (12-3) were led offensively by Tyler Harris, who had two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Anthony Farole added a hit, a run scored and three RBIs.

For Palmerton (3-11), Rich Steigerwalt had two hits and knocke din his team's only run.

Pleasant Vy.-Liberty

The Bears went to extra innings before dropping a 4-3 non-league decision to Liberty on Saturday.

For Pleasant Valley (8-6), John Guadagna had two hits, three RBIs and a stolen base. Derek Walling added a double and scored twice and Joey Weismeth had two hits.

James McCarthy had three hits for Liberty (11-5), .

In a battle of teams searching for their first win, Panther Valley broke on top early and held on to post a 5-4 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe on Saturday.

Lauren Frantz led the Panthers (1-15, 1-11) with two singles.

For Jim Thorpe (0-15, 0-10), Jocelyn DeMarco had an RBI double.

Haven rolled to a 15-0 non-league win over Panther Valley on Sunday.

For the winners, Leven had two singles and a two-run double.

Angie Piscitelli's infield single was the sole hit for the Panthers (1-16).

GIRLS SOCCER

ES South-Lehighton

Holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, East Stroudsburg South scored three quick goals early in the second half to pull away for a 4-1 Mountain Valley Conference win over Lehighton on Saturday.

For the winners, Kaitlin Joffee led the way with a goal and an assist.

For Lehighton, Kacy Beck had her team's lone score. Chistina Schnell assited on the goal.

JV SOFTBALL

No. Lehigh-Pen Argyl

Northern Lehigh pulled out a 12-10 extra-inning victory over Pen Argyl.

Shannon Weil and Marissa Marsh both had three hits for the Bulldogs. Lexy Barrett and Jenelle Kern added two hits apiece. Barrett knocked in three runs.
