Marian, Pleasant Vy. win pair on diamond
Marian and Pleasant Valley both posted baseball and softball victories on Thursday.
BASEBALL
Marian-Weatherly
Marian belted three home runs to roll to a 17-1 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.
Mark Stawick delivered a solo home run in the first inning, Ryan Gimbi followed with a two-run blast in the second and Brandon Dopira connected for a solo shot in the third.
Scott Morris finished with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, which included a double and two RBIs. Teammate JT Keer added two singles and four RBIs. Stawick had a double to go with his home run.
Cody Hoffman had an RBI single for the Wreckers.

The Panthers' Zach Stanko was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle as he finished with a single, double, triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Stephen Gulla had a home run and a single. Matt Tucker added two singles, a double and a run scored.
Justin Kaminski led the Olympians with a single, double, a run scored and a RBI. Teammate Colton Knox finished with a single, a double and a RBI.

The Crimson Tide overcame a five-run deficit to hand the Blue Raiders a 15-6 loss in Schuylkill League Division I play.
The loss eliminated the Blue Raiders from qualifying for a District 11 playoff berth as their record fell to 9-11 overall and 5-7 in the Schuylkill League.
Pottsville's win and North Schuylkill's 4-1 win over Pine Grove, left the two tied for the Division I wild card.
The teams will meet at 7 tonight at Pine Grove for the right to play in the league semifinals against Division II champion Schuylkill Haven in Tuesday.
Dylan Delay had three hits for the Blue Raiders, while Derek Linkhorst and Mike Toth had two hits apiece.

Kasey Meckes had the hot bat for the Bears with two singles and two RBIs. Teammate Dianne Klapatch chipped in two singles and a RBI; Felicia Domenici added a single, a run scored and two RBIs; and Alura Bellis contributed a single and two runs scored.
Pleasant Valley improves to 14-5 overall and finishes unbeaten in the MVC at 12-0.

Marian used an eight-run sixth inning to rally for a 12-8 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.
Gabby Green (single, triple, run scored and two RBIs) keyed the Fillies' sixth with a two-run triple. Ashley Donlin (two singles, a run scored, three RBIs) chipped in with a two-run single and Jeanne Cannon added an RBI on a suicide squeeze.
Abbey Hill (two singles, RBI) and Shannon Skotek (two singles, run scored) also contributed to the Fillies' win.
Erin Dougherty paced the Wreckers with a double, two run scored and two RBIs. Jamie Dougherty added a double and a RBI.
