First production deemed a success in Weatherly
The newly-formed drama group at Zions Lutheran Church, Third and Fell streets, Weatherly presented its first production on May 8.
The title of the play was "Choices." It related to the choices Jesus made to fulfill the prophecies about Him and the choices His disciples had to make to continue Christ's ministries.
The story was told in word and song and also identified with the choices young people have to make today.
The cast included: Kyle Harris as Jesus, Christian Ormiston as Peter, Charlie Wallish as John, Alicia Panzarella as Mary of Bethany, Tyler Fisher as a thief, and Joshua Naegele as a thief.
The Children of Zions Sunday school participated as Jesus spoke to them about God's love.
Crystal Hoffman was the narrator and pianist.
Songs were an important part of the production with the children singing "Hosanna," Panzarella singing "Redeemer" and Kyle Harris singing "I've Always Loved You."
Additional songs including "Touching Him," "Thief," and "When God Ran," were performed by Robin Labanoski.
The audience gave the players a standing ovation in acknowledgment of their performance.
The play is part of a new ministry of Zions that is open to all of the community. The program is under the direction of Eva Labonoski.
The Zions Drama Group is planning its next production. Those interested in joining can call the church office at (570) 427-4113.
