Broken wheel causes unusual accident

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on an unusal crash that occured in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said the incident occurred on Monday, May 16, about 2:45 p.m. along SR183, a quarter-mile north of Sweet Arrow Lake Road, in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Jessica White, 26, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 1994 Buick Regal northbound when the front left wheel broke off the vehicle. The wheel traveled north about 1,000 feet before entering the parking lot of the Chestnut Street Market where struck the side of a parked conversion van putting a dent in the left front door.

White managed to pull the Regal off the side of the road. The damaged van is owned by Connie Mentzer, of Pottsville, troopers said. There were no injuries reported.
