Coaldale driver facing DUI count
A Coaldale driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 9:40 a.m. Sunday, May 15. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred along Old Route 209 in Schuylkill Township, just west of Tamaqua.
Troopers said Joseph M. Machay, 26, was driving a 2002 Dodge westbound when the vehicle left the road and the front end impacted with a ditch.
Troopers said Machay fled the scene but was later located. He showed signs of intoxication, troopers said, and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville, for a blood test. He was also treated for minor injuries, troopers added.
The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers said. Machay will be charged with several motor vehicle code violations.
