Property tax reform needed

Published November 04. 2011 05:02PM

Dear Editor:

Well the Palmerton School board is at it again.

Thursdays (Nov. 3) Times-News article reported a proposed a 9.1 percent increase in Property taxes.

Whatever happened to legislation where districts must hold the line at the rate of inflation? As a person retired on a fixed income we never see this kind on increase.

It's at a point where property taxes account for 25 percent of ones retirement income.

Perhaps it's time start an "Occupy the Palmerton School board"

If they see that we are fed up with this constant increase in taxes they may get the message. Or, we as taxpayers could just stop paying our property taxes all together.

They cannot foreclose on everybody.

I cast a "None of the above" for anyone running for PASB.
