Nolehi, Tamaqua in grid playoffs
The high school football season came to an end for seven local teams this past weekend, but two TIMES NEWS area teams earned another week of practice and another game.
Northern Lehigh, with its 9-1 record, earned the No. 3 seed in the District 11 2A tournament and will travel to No. 2 seed North Schuylkill (10-0) for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday and a rematch of the district championship game the past two years.
No. 4 Pine Grove (9-1) will make the trip to No. 1 seed and Colonial League champion Pen Argyl (10-0) for a 1 p.m. Saturday start in the other semifinal.
Tamaqua (5-5), with its win over Marian this past Friday night, earned the No. 4 seed for the Eastern Conference 2A playoffs and will tentatively travel to No. 1 seed Catasauqua (7-3) this Friday night. All Eastern Conference games will be finalized tonight.
