Free flu shots

Our Lady Queen of Peace is offering a free PMC flu shot clinic from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9. Call (570) 476-3767 to register.

Historical society

Chestnuthill Township Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building on Route 715.

The historical society invites residents to join in the group's quest to preserve the township's history.

Help needed

Operation Touch of Home will host its annual large essentials collection/shipment for local troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan this weekend.

A few collection locations are short on volunteers for both days. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Rotary speaker

The West End Rotary's own Brandie Belanger will be the featured speaker at this week's club breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. She will give a classification speech.

Thanksgiving supper

Our Lady Queen of Peace's Thanksgiving Community Sunday Supper for those in need will be held from 3-4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13, in McCawley Hall.

Western Pocono Lioness

The Western Pocono Lioness Fun Bunch November activity will be crafting items for Breakfast with Santa. They will meet at noon on Monday, Nov. 14, at Camille DeSando's home.

Participating Lioness are invited to bring their own bag lunch and drink.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, members of the club will be doing double duty. During the day, the club will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross with cooperation from the American Legion in Gilbert, where the blood drive is being held. Hours are from 1:30-6 p.m. Registration may be made at (570) 823-7164, ext. 2108, but walk-ins are welcome.

In the evening, the club will hold its regular meeting at Ye Olde Saylors Inn in Saylorsburg, beginning with a social time at 6:30 p.m.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Alyse Mitten of the Mid-Atlantic Community Paper Association, speaking about the judging of advertising in free community papers. Mitten is president of Interface Communications, Inc.

Western Pocono Women's Club

The Western Pocono Women's Club will welcome Amy Leiser, director of the Monroe County Historical Society, when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 at Effort UMC. Any woman interested in becoming active in the community is welcome to join.

Refreshments will follow the meeting.
