November 9, 1953 Touchdowns by Gerry Semmel and Bob Arner allow Lehighton to earn a 13-13 tie with Lehigh Valley League opponent, Catasauqua. Arner catches a 10-yard scoring pass from Semmel late in the first half to complete a 63-yard drive and Fritz Mertz adds the extra point to give the Indians a lead. Semmel extends the margin with a 70-yard TD run in the final frame, but a last-minute score by the Roughies forces the deadlock.
