Walnutport man dies in crash

Brandon L. Gonzalez, 20, of Walnutport died Saturday after he lost control of his motorcycle and it was hit by another vehicle outside Northampton Assembly of God in Allen Township, state police at Bethlehem said.

The crash took place just before 6 p.m. in the 3400 block of Cherryville Road.

Troopers said Gonzalez, who was not wearing a helmet, had been riding around the church parking lot and headed east on a private drive leading out of the lot when he lost control of the bike, a 2004 Yamaha R1, and it slid on its side onto Cherryville Road.

Gonzalez and the motorcycle slid in front of a Ford Mustang operated by David J. Ritter, 51, of Walnutport.

Troopers said Gonzalez was driving too fast for conditions. Ritter, who was wearing a seat belt, did not commit any violations and was not cited, troopers said.
