JROTC Boosters meeting

The next meeting of the Panther Valley High School JROTC Boosters will be held on Monday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. in the JROTC room. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

Bike giveaway

On Saturday, Nov. 19 a free Chinese Auction will be held at Nesquehoning Borough Council chambers from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The prizes will be various bikes that have accumulated at the police station. The auction is for the children of Nesquehoning. All bikes will be auctioned as is and parents must be present to sign a release form.

Summit Hill

St. Paul Lutheran

The Rev. George Zacharda, a retired pastor from Catasauqua, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, Nov. 13. He will deliver the sermon during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The church's Sunday school class/youth group will meet from 5-8 p.m. to make crafts for the area nursing home residents. The class members are collecting boxes of tissues to be delivered to the nursing home residents during their visit in December.

Confirmation class is held each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at St. John Church, Lansford.

Anthracite LL

The Anthracite Little League will meet on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Summit Hill Borough Building. President Roobhenn Smith will be in charge of the session.

The agenda will include nominations for head coaching positions, financial reports, news and notes from the offseason, registration fees, field usage, election of officers and ratification of bylaws for the 2012 season. Persons aspiring to coach in the league next year are reminded they must be present at this meeting to accept a nomination.

Borough council

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will chair the meeting.

Legion meetings

The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.

A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.

Lansford

AMVETS meeting

A joint meeting of the organizations associated with the Lansford AMVETS Post will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, beginning at noon.

Members of the post, ladies auxiliary and Sons of the AMVETS organizations are asked to attend.

Commander Perry Shelton will chair the session.
