File for divorce
Jennifer Kanard, 55 Mantzville Road, Tamaqua, filed suit for divorce from Thomas Kanard, 3340 S. Fifth Avenue, Whitehall. They were married Sept. 25, 1999.
Angela Marie Chandler, 523 Church St., New Ringgold, filed suit for divorce from Costy A. Chandler, Remington, Va.
Divorces granted
Patrick M. Caufield, Ashland, was granted a divorce from Careen A. Canfield, Minersville. They were married June 26, 1999.
Barry D. Strause was granted a divorce from Constance Strause, both of Auburn. They were married Jan. 27, 1965.
Criminal contempt
Senior Judge D. Michael Stine held hearings and made rulings on people charged with violating their Protection From Abuse (PFA) order.
Ricky C. Nelson, 34, of 103 N. Lehigh St., Tamaqua, was adjudged guilty of indirect contempt of the order and was fined $300 and costs. Nelson was charged with sending letters to the victim in violation of the court order.
David George Dillon, 33, Palo Alto, was adjudged not guilty. He was charged with sending text messages to his ex-girlfriend.
Andrew Schmidt, 49, Shenandoah, was found not guilty. He was charged of going to the home of his ex-girlfriend. He claimed he was checking to make sure a heater was installed in the bedroom of their child.
Debra A. Moyer, 44, Orwigsburg, was found not guilty. She was charged with driving by her two children walking to school who are in the custody of their father.
Revoke parole
The parole of Brenda L. Kufro, 42, Shenandoah, was revoked by Judge John Domalakes for viiolating special conditions fixed by the court.
She was not permitted to consume alcohol beverages while on probation. Kufro was remanded to the county prison to serve the balance of her sentence and her 219 days of liberty were disallowed and added to her maximum sentence which was extended to Oct. 29, 2012. She is permitted to re-apply for parole upoon acceptance into an inpatient rehabilitation facilty.
Kufro had pleaded guilty to delivery of drugs and was sentenced on Aug. 31, 2009, to serve six months in prison and then was placed on parole for 23 months.
Terminate ARD
Zachary Scott Himmelberger, 19, Port Clinton, was removed by President Judge William E. Baldwin from the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program, which is reserved for first offenders to allow them to clear their name of a criminal record. He was removed for violating special terms fixed by the court.
He failed to notify his probation officer within 48 hours of a new arrests, drugs were found in his possession and he failed to complete his outpatient treatment.
Himmerberger was arrested last Sept. 14 in Hamburg for theft of a motorcycle owned by Michael Umberger, of Lebanon. He was placed in the ARD program for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol as a minor last December.
