Alzheimer's festival, walk set for this Saturday

The Third Annual Alzheimer's Family Fun Festival & Walk will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Jim Thorpe.

The event begins with registration for the Walk to End Alzheimer's at 9 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. with the start of the walk, a car cruise sponsored by the Jukebox Cruisers and live bluegrass music by Liberty. A motorcycle run also begins with registration at 9 a.m. and the run at 10 a.m. from the Riverwalck Saloon on Route 248 in Parryville. The run ends at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

Avoid bottlenecks in downtown Jim Thorpe by coming via 209 to Center Avenue in Jim Thorpe or Route 902 from Summit Hill or Lehighton onto Lentz Trail.

The day's activities include magic with Miss Prissy the clown, a karate demonstration by Janner's Martial Arts, a dance exhibit by Dance with Kim School of Performing Arts and free kids' games including hula hoop. Daylong activities include chair massage, sand art, bean bags, bocce ball and more.

Proceeds benefit the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
