Northern Lehigh gained wins in field hockey and boys soccer, while its girls cross country team went 3-1 in a Colonial League meet.

Tamaqua had victories in both tennis and girls soccer, while three TIMES NEWS volleyball teams (Pleasant Valley, Panther Valley, Marian) also posted wins.

FIELD HOCKEY

Salisbury-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh made quick work of Salisbury, as the Bulldogs rolled to an 8-0 Colonial League win.

Jessie Olewine scored two goals and had two assists in the game, while Shannon Weil and Heather Chandler both scored two goals apiece. Rachel Wagner assisted four scores, as Jennie Fronheiser and Morgan Farber both had single tallies.

Northern Lehigh outshot its opponent, 20-0.

ES North-Lehighton

East Stroudsburg North gave Lehighton all it could handle, but the Indians pulled out a 3-1 Mountain Valley Conference win.

After a scoreless first half, the Tribe (7-5-1; 6-2-1) ran off three straight goals scored by Rachel Werley, Kaycie Andrew and Sage Terembula. Emily Kollar, Werley and Maris Stern all had assists for the winners.

For the Timberwolves (6-5-1; 4-4-1), Melissa Deresky scored off an assist from Tori McGrath.

Lehighton held an 8-3 advantage in shots.

North prevailed in the JV contest, 2-1.

GIRLS TENNIS

PM East-Pleasant Valley

Pocono Mountain East won three of four doubles matches to help gain a 4-3 Mountain Valley Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

Sara Elmontacir and Miranda Houchins prevailed in singles for the Lady Bears (3-4), while teammates Fioni Fludd and Mackie Caffrey teamed up to win at number one doubles.

Blue Mtn.-Jim Thorpe

Blue Mountain rolled to a 5-0 sweep of Jim Thorpe.

The Eagles didn't lose a set in the match in dropping the Olympians' record to 3-10.

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Tamaqua had no trouble with Pottsville, rolling to a 4-0 victory.

Nicki Mateyak set the tone at No 1 singles, as she won without giving up a game.

Taylor Urban/Vicki Krouse (T) def. Jenna Morrow/Rebecca Ohnmatch 6-2, 4-6, 6-4; Emily Hansler/Laine Confer vs. Jackie Lenick/Caitlyn Croley 4-6, 3-2 (not completed).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Panther Vy.-Jim Thorpe

Panther Valley swept Jim Thorpe, winning 25-5, 25-13, 25-9.

The Panthers (8-2, 6-2) were paced by Steph Kachelries and her 16 service points and eight aces. Chrissy Micholik added 12 service points, 10 kills and seven aces, while Deanna Focht (11 service points) and Krista Paul (eight service points, five aces) also did well from the service line.

Amanda Petrin led the Olympians with eight digs. Teammate Shannon Green added five blocks and three kills.

The Panthers also won the JV contest, 24-26, 25-23, 25-14.

Stroudsburg-Lehighton

Stroudsburg cruised to a 25-18, 25-12, 25-12 Mountain Valley Conference victory over host Lehighton.

The Indians' Natalie Zurn had six digs and an ace.

For Stroudsburg, Alana Slater had 21 assists, five kills and four digs.

Stroudsburg also won the JV game, 16-25, 25-19, 15-13.

ES South-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley defeated East Stroudsburg South in four games, 25-6, 25-20, 19-25, 25-10, in Mountain Valley Conference action.

Breanna Joseph had 17 kills and Courtney Miller 15 to lead the Bears (8-0 in the MVC). Joseph added four blocks and Miller three. Kiersten Griesback also contributed 20 assists and Steph Schmitt had 19 while Andrea Giardina and Schmitt had eight and seven digs, respectively.

Lourdes-Tamaqua

Tamaqua dropped a 25-18, 25-13, 25-22 decision to Lourdes in Schuylkill League action.

The Raiders' Sarah Paluck had eight kills and 10 digs, while Devan Sweeney had nine service points, two aces, three kills and seven digs.

Sarah Lesisko added seven digs and Jordan Reabold had five.

Tamaqua won the JV contest, 2-0.

Marian-Millersburg

Marian stayed perfect on the year with a 25-6, 25-2, 25-4 Schuylkill League sweep of Millersburg.

Marykate Sherkness led the Fillies (9-0) with 16 kills and seven aces. Teammate Abby O'Donnell dished out 27 assists to go along with three aces and three digs.

Marian's JV team also won, 25-5, 25-22.

Weatherly-U. Dauphin

Weatherly took the opening game but dropped three straight to Upper Dauphin, falling 25-27, 25-22, 25-21, 25-14 in Schuylkill League action.

The Wreckers' Jess Adamczyk had seven kills, three digs and five blocks, while teammate Sarah Dolisnky had 12 kills, 15 digs and three aces. Alicia Panzarella added six kills, 15 digs and seven aces for Weatherly (4-10).

BOYS SOCCER

Palmerton-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh had no trouble with Palmerton, easily earning a 6-0 Colonial League win.

Channing Shiffert scored three goals and added an assist to lead the winners, while brother Zeb had a goal and two assists. Ryan Perkowski scored a goal, while Jimmy Bilger had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs (8-6; 5-6).

Northern Lehigh, which held a 22-6 advantage in shots, also received an assist from Sean Mulcahey.

The loss dropped Palmerton to 1-10.

ES North-Lehighton

East Stroudsburg North's Luis Gomes scored the game's only goal and the Timberwolves hung on for a 1-0 Mountain Valley Conference win over Lehighton.

North (7-4-2) outshot Lehighton 25-7 in the game. The Indians (2-9 overall, 1-8 MVC) received 21 saves from Shane Fordyce in goal.

Eastburg also won the JV contest, 3-0.

GIRLS SOCCER

Jim Thorpe-Nativity

Kristin Lawrence had two goals and three assists and Chelsea Smelas had a hat trick and an assist to lead Jim Thorpe to a 9-3 Schuylkill League win over Nativity.

Cat Condly added two goals and an assist for the Olympians, who also received a goal and assist from Jen Rusbarsky. Colleen Hoffman also tallied for the winners while Jeanna McElmoyle contributed two assists.

Thorpe's Celeste Meriano stopped five shots in goal.

N. Schuylkill-Tamaqua

Kayla Hope made sure Tamaqua (11-0, 8-0) was victorious on Senior Night, as she scored four goals en route to a 9-0 Schuylkill League win over North Schuylkill.

Hope's four goals tied a school record for most goals in a game. Teammate Kailee Rottet added to the cause with a hat trick of her own. Kaileigh Rabenold and Ali Knepper added the other goals to close out the scoring.

Tamaqua goalie Chey Bates recorded three saves for her sixth shutout of the year.

CROSS COUNTRY

No. Lehigh-Palmerton

The Northern Lehigh girls went 3-1 in Colonial League action at Palmerton, losing only to Notre Dame.

The Bulldog boys were 1-3, while the Bomber boys and girls both finished 1-2.

Palmerton's' Andrea Stevko took fourth in the girls race, while Sam Corcoran was sixth for Nolehi. The Bombers' Mike Horvath was 10th in the boys' race while NL's Alex Hoffner was 19th.
