October 7, 1978 Jim Thorpe scores a pair of second-quarter touchdowns and make them hold up in posting a 14-0 win over Freeland. The Olympians, coached by Bruce Krasley, open the scoring with a 44-yard TD pass from Pete McGuire to Barry Haupt. Thorpe also receives a nine-yard touchdown run from Kevin Wernett. McGuire finishes the contest with 108 passing yards while Dave Rehrig leads the team with 64 rushing yards.
