National Night Out

Students, parents, seniors and groups of all ages are asked to join the committee to plan the first Jim Thorpe National Night Out.

The meeting will be held at the Jim Thorpe Borough Hall in the conference room on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

This opportunity will allow residents to give back to their community and could also be a good project for students in need of community service hours.

Smoke detectors

The Jim Thorpe Fire Department has free smoke detectors for Jim Thorpe borough residents. If you need a smoke detector, contact Fire Chief Bill Diehm at (570) 325-3890. No commercial properties please.

Fire companymeeting

Members of the Phoenix Hose Company will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the company headquarters at 7 p.m. Nomination of officers will take place at this time.

Bloodmobile

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Memorial Hall on Oct. 19, from 1-6 p.m. Donors should be 17 years of age and older.

Guest speakers

David and Karen Brickley, national Christian recording artists and authors, will be speaking at the Ebenezer E.C. Church on Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The church is located at 441 Centre Ave. For more information call the church at (570) 325-2855.
