Palmerton Area Library to host 5th Annual Quilt Show
On Sunday from noon until 4 p.m., the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., will once again be enveloped in warm cozy quilts from top to bottom for its Fifth Annual Quilt Show.
Brimming with beautiful quilts made by local quilters, the show will feature the artistry that is as creative and imaginative as any other art form.
"Quilts are our inheritance of our ancestors," says Terri Sheckler, coordinator of the event.
New and antique quilts will be on display. Cheryl Hank, a certified Quilt in a Day instructor will be on hand to demonstrate and talk to visitors. Quilt historians will be there to help you date an old antique quilt.
There will be door prizes and sewing and quilt-related items will be available, and the opportunity to win a handmade quilt.
When you leave, if you haven't had quite enough of quilts, be sure to visit the Palmerton Area Heritage Center, just a couple doors from the library at 410 Delaware Ave. You are invited to come in and view its display of antique quilts, which have been the featured display for the last few months.
Those wishing to display their quilts, wall hangings or quilted pieces may contact (610) 826-3424.
There is a donation requested and all proceeds will benefit the library.
Even those who are not quilters may appreciate the beauty of this American folk art at the Palmerton Area Library's Fifth Annual Quilt Show and admire the artistry and talent of quiltmakers of today and long ago.
