October 10, 1947 Herman Lutz breaks free for an 83-yard touchdown run with four minutes left to play to lift Tamaqua to a 13-6 victory over Mahanoy City. The Blue Raiders use a sack and fumble recovery by Steve Pastupack to seal the win. Earlier in the contest, Johnny Metrick gets loose for a 46-yard tally that had tied the game. The winners also receive an interception from Francis Emerick.
