Published October 10. 2011 05:03PM

No injuries were reported in a two-car crash that occurred Thursday morning in Schuylkill County.

Schuylkill Haven State Police said the crash occurred at about 8:16 a.m. along State Highway 61 at its intersection with State Highway 183 in North Manheim Township.

The crash occurred when a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am operated by Kelly Close, 35, of Schuylkill Haven, was traveling north on State Route 61 at the intersection with State Route 183 while a 2006 Nissan Altima operated by Michael Starr, 34, of Alburtis, was traveling across 61 to travel south on 183.

The Grand Am traveled through a steady red light as the Nissan Altima traveled through a steady green light, which resulted in the Grand Am's front passenger side quarter panel struck the Altima's front driver's side quarter panel and bumper, tearing off the Altima's bumper.

Both units sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Close received a traffic citation for running a red light.

Heather Smith, 31, of Schuylkill Haven, and a 14-year-old female were passengers in the Grand Am. All four individuals were wearing their seat belts.
