Traffic stop leads to citations
A traffic stop in Nesquehoning led the arrest of a wanted person and multiple citations.
Officer Thomas Kurtz was monitoring traffic at Mermon and Catawissa streets about 1:50 p.m. on Sept. 28 when he observed a recreation vehicle (RV) turn off Catawissa onto N. Mermon and a ladder fell out of the back window.
Kurtz made a traffic stop and identified the driver as Thomas Harker, no age or address given. Kurtz initial stop was for unsecured loads. After running Harker's name it was found that the vehicle's registration was expired and that Harker had a suspended license. He was further learned that Harker was wanted by the state police for a protection from abuse (PFA) violation.
Harker was taken into custody and housed in the county prison. Kurtz filed multiple citations against Harker incident to the RV violations.
